I always loved the irregular forms found everywhere in nature and the perfection and beauty of their organic shapes.

This spherical bowl has an irregular border and rough texture I made entirely by hand with a special time dedicating coiling technique, and it’s uncommonly thin for a piece of this kind and scale.

It has a native Georgia plant imprinted in the inside glazed with a clear glaze I  made from scratch. The earthy tones and the natural and random smoky patterns that embellish the piece were achieved with pit firing. The small patches of copper-like metallic colors were caused by the chemical reaction of the ink on the paper used in the firing. It has a satin finish obtained with a layer of wax buffed off with a soft fabric leaving the piece with a finish that’s smooth to the touch.

This original one-of-a-kind handmade bowl measures 8 1/2″ H x 14 1/4″ D, and it weighs just 2 lbs, 6.17 oz approximately.
